Vortex Sculpting
A way of cutting hair in the round. It produces rounded, feathered silhouettes with no hard lines.
Origin
Vortex Sculpting was created by Sin, founder of the Republic and its Executive Chief Sculptor. It is the method the salon was built around.
It is not kept to one chair. Every sculptor in the Republic is trained in it and practises it daily.
Philosophy
Most cutting is an argument between straight lines. A line is drawn, then another is drawn against it. The result is exact on the day and begins to fail the day after.
The Republic prefers the circle. A curve has no corner, and so has nothing to lose as it grows. The hair moves, and the shape moves with it.
Geometry
The head is round. The cut follows it.
Hair is shaped around the curve of the head, not in flat planes laid against it. The outline that results is a continuous curve.
Ends are feathered, not squared.
Each length gives way to the next. Nothing stops abruptly, so nothing reads as a line.
There is no edge to find.
A silhouette without corners keeps its shape as it grows. It is the same cut at week eight, only longer.

Look at the outline. There is no point at which it turns a corner.
